THE SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH MEN'S POWER HOUR
Introduction to the Ministry
The Men's Power Hour is a ministry of the Second Baptist Church Brotherhood.
The group assembles on the first (1st) and third (3rd) Friday of each month to:
uplift
encourage
exhort, and
train
the brethren of Second Baptist Church to develop in knowledge, holiness, and reverence of our great God in Jesus Christ.
Our mission is to restore our brothers to every good word and work in Christ. Our goal is that we grow together, becoming godly servants and gentle leaders of our families; who lead with gentle and compassionate understanding of those God has entrusted us.
Ministry Tenants
- We have come to realize through willful submission to God that it is impossible for any one brother to successfully accomplish his God-given calling without support, love, understanding, and accountability from other like-minded men.
- We believe that through individual transparency and vulnerability, God's Word will expose our hurts, disappointments, failure, and errant ideologies that plague our lives and prevent us from reaching the "mark of the high calling of God."
- We discuss relevant issues that permeate our post-modern society and seek sound, biblical solutions to those issues that are specific to our everyday life.
Ministry Leadership
Minister James Jones and Deacon-Elect Devon Bassett serve as our ministry leaders. Minister Jones also serves as our Ministry Facilitator/Bible Teacher. His practical, unwavering commitment to the authority of holy scripture has served as the catalyst God uses to unalterably change men lives and love them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. His teaching can also be attributed to helping men make decisions to re-commit themselves to their families and accept their roles as servant-leaders in their homes.
