“Our Deepest Fear”
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us;
It's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we're liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

2 Timothy 1:3-7
I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy. I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (ESV)
You are a resilient person. You are a strong human being. You are filled with passion. You are not afraid. If any of these statements resonate with you in any way, keep reading. You are a resilient person because you are wired by God to be so. Think of your parents and grandparents and all they have had to endure. God decided to add you to that specific lineage. For this reason, you are undoubtedly a strong human being. Just as your parents have overcome hardships, you have too. And you don’t look like what you’ve been through. So, what drives you? What are you passionate about?
Whether you know it or not, you are filled with passion. Passion for living, passion for loving, passion for serving, passion for productivity, passion for community, and passion for success. We all have something that we desire to achieve or attain, whether material or immaterial. Often, we are blocked from pursuing our passion by fear. Fear paralyzes us and causes us to settle in life. So, I invite you this day to affirm with me, “I am not afraid!” Now, say it again...and again...and again. Make it your daily mantra! “With God all things are possible.”
